Response of overlake wind dynamics to climate change
Problem statement:
Wind is one of the most important drivers of aquatic ecosystem dynamics. Climate change has so far caused well-documented alterations in wind speed and direction over land and sea. However, the specific response of overlake wind speeds remains uncertain. This knowledge gap poses a significant challenge in understanding and predicting the broader implications of climate change for lake ecosystems.
The aim of the work:
To investigate and quantify the changes in overlake wind speeds to enhance our comprehension of the evolving dynamics within aquatic ecosystems under the influence of climate change. Compile a database of overlake wind speed measurements from lake monitoring buoys. Use the data to estimate the long-term response of overlake winds speeds to climate change and to validate publicly available wind model output.
